Vera Marie Sproll, 85, of Hoopeston, IL, formerly of Wellington, IL, passed away at 11:16 A.M. Friday March 8, 2013 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born August 24, 1927 in Donovan, IL, the daughter of Ira and Adela (Hokinson) Swartz. She married Richard Sproll on September 11, 1947 at the Donovan Church of Christ in Donovan, IL. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie (Michael) Carlson of Wellington, IL, Carole (Thomas) Bond of Hoopeston, IL and Patricia (Kevin) Gray of Mahomet, IL; one brother, Ray (Evie) Swartz of Arlington Heights, IL; six grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one niece Jeanne Magrini and one nephew Dennis Dice.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Swartz; one sister, Geneva Dice and one great-grandson Evan Downs.
Vera spent her earlier years as a homemaker to her husband Richard and their three daughters. She later went on to nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ in rural Hoopeston. Vera enjoyed the years that she and her husband spent traveling to Florida together. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, sewing and playing Nintendo Wii games while living at the Country Terrace Senior Apartments. She was a past 4-H leader and an excellent cook. Vera was a very loving mother and grandmother.
