Monty Reed, 76, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:03 P.M. Sunday January 27, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born October 21, 1936 in Danville, IL, the son of Russell and Hilda (Branson) Reed.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Karen Reed of Hoopeston, IL; one nephew, Jason (Dianna) Reed of Milford, IL and two great-nephews, Blake and Jacob Cole Reed of Milford.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and two brothers Ronnie and John Reed.
When Monty was younger, he sold pop out of the wash house in Cheneyville. He later delivered newspapers for the Commercial – News for many years. Monty was a member of the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene, where he served faithfully as an usher. He was also a member of the Hoopeston Lions Club, the Northfork Conservation Club and the Illiana Antique Auto Club. Monty volunteered at the Hoopeston Multi Agency and also every Friday at Wal-Mart.
