Jack Herbert Simpson, 75, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away Thursday November 29, 2012 at 8:28 P.M. at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Jack was born March 1, 1937, in Lovington, IL the son of Samuel Bert Simpson and Kate (Borders) Simpson.
He married Barbara Benson February 6, 1962 in Danville, IL; she survives in Hoopeston, IL.
Surviving family includes two sons: Danny (Amanda) Simpson of Hoopeston and John (Angie) Simpson of Hoopeston; four daughters: Jody (Ron) Kuntz of Hoopeston, Vickie Simpson-Foster of Hoopeston, Kristi (Frank) Longfellow of Hoopeston and Debbie (Chuck) Torbet of Milford, IL; one brother: Robert "Bob" (Cathy) Simpson of Hoopeston, IL; fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Alice.
Mr. Simpson owned and operated Simpson Electric for many years. Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston. He was active for many years in the Hoopeston Conservation Club, serving as President.
Jack was a music enthusiast, playing bass and singing in his band. Many enjoyed listening or dancing to his band or listening to his music being played on the local radio station. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, and cooking. Jack loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Anderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Adam Taubert officiating. Burial will follow funeral services at the Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
