Gwen E. "Sof" McCord, 59, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday August 6, 2013 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL. She was born November 27, 1953, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Franklin D. "Jake" and Eileen (Smock) McCord.
She is survived by her partner Paula Anderson of Urbana, IL. She is also survived by one brother, Dale McCord; two nephews, Eric McCord and Jason (Melia) McCord and one great-niece, Delaney McCord, all of Hoopeston, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Gwen graduated from East Lynn High School and went on to continue her education at Southern Illinois University, where she completed her Bachelor's Degree. She worked for many years in the shipping department at Bell Sports Inc. in Rantoul. She enjoyed getting together with her family and caring for her pets. Gwen was also very fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends, whom she enjoyed spending time with. She will be missed by all who knew her.
